Compared to last week: All classes of hay traded steady, slight undertone noted on Retail/Stable hay. Demand was good for Domestic Alfalfa and Export classes, moderate for Retail/Stable hay on moderate trade activity. The Northern regions 1 through 3 recently experienced varying degrees of moisture, thus aiding the drought like conditions that have been plaguing parts of California. Regions 4 through 6 continue to bring in out of state hay to fill current contracts. In Region 6, several producers are cutting new hay currently and expect, if weather permits, to bale new hay within 8-10 days. Many noting warmer than usual weather across the state.
