San Angelo, Texas

Jan. 27

Compared to last week slaughter lambs were steady, except 70-100 lbs. at San Angelo, Texas, were weak to $10 lower and at New Holland, Pa., they were sharply lower. Slaughter ewes were steady, except at New Holland $20 lower. Feeder lambs steady. At San Angelo, 3,358 head sold in a one-day sale. No sales in Equity Electronic Auction. In direct trading slaughter ewes not tested and no comparison on feeder lambs. 4,900 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs were $2-3 lower and 10,600 head of formula sales were $4-5 lower. 7,278 lamb carcasses sold with 55 lbs. and down $10.06-10.15 higher and 55 lbs. and up $.09-1.29 lower.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 2-3 90-160 lbs.:

San Angelo: shorn and wooled 100-160 lbs. $135-156, few $166.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 1:

San Angelo: 40-60 lbs. $200-236; 60-70 lbs. $202-230; 70-80 lbs. $190-200, few $220; 80-90 lbs. $170-186; 100 lbs. $170.

DIRECT TRADING (Lambs with 3-4 percent shrink or equivalent)

4,900 Slaughter Lambs shorn and wooled 110-160 lbs. $150-165 (wtd avg $158.68); no dressed sales reported.

California: 400 Feeder Lambs 120 lbs. $154.

SLAUGHTER EWES:

San Angelo: Good 2-3 (fleshy) $70-74; Utility and Good 1-3 (medium flesh) $76-88, few $90-96; Utility 1-2 (thin) $70-74; Cull and Utility 1-2 (very thin) $62-65.

FEEDER LAMBS Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: 100-105 lbs. $167-170.

REPLACEMENT EWES Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: baby tooth 90-120 lbs. $122-136 cwt; solid mouth 105-135 lbs. $110-122 cwt.
