Portland Daily Grain Report for Jan. 26, 2012

Bids as of 9:30 a.m.; subject to change.

Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during January by unit trains and barges, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. All other wheat and barley bids are for full January delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery.

March wheat futures trended 9-1/4 to 14-1/4 cents per bushel higher in early trading compared to Wednesday's closes.

Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat for January delivery in unit trains or barges were not available in early trading, as most exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.

Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for January delivery were not fully established in early trading, but were indicated as nine cents per bushel higher compared to Wednesday's noon bids in lining up with the higher Kansas City March wheat futures.

Bids for 14 percent protein non-guaranteed US 1 Dark Northern Spring Wheat for January delivery were not well tested in early trading, but were indicated as ten cents per bushel higher, supported by the higher Minneapolis March wheat futures.

Bids for US 2 Barley for January delivery were not well tested.

Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars trended 10 to 11-1/4 cents per cwt higher than Wednesday's noon bids. Higher Chicago March corn futures supported corn bids. Bids for corn truck delivered to the Yakima Valley trended 10 to 11-1/4 cents per cwt higher than Wednesday's noon bids.
