CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 26, were not available as most exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Jan. 19 bids for soft white wheat were $6.25-6.30, mostly $6.30. There were no white club wheat premiums for January delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat for January delivery were $8-8.30, mostly $8.20 and White Club Wheat bids were $8-8.80, mostly $8.37. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Jan. 20 at mostly $6.30, then rose to mostly $6.33 on Jan. 23 before jumping higher to mostly $6.55 on Jan. 24. Jan. 25 bids moved higher to mostly $6.60. Jan. 26, most exporters did not have a bid for soft white wheat for nearby delivery. Higher Chicago March wheat each day during the week supported the soft white wheat bids. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.45-6.72; March $6.55-6.75; April and May $6.65-6.75 and August New Crop $6.40-6.60. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February and March $8-8.30, April $8.20-8.30, May $8.30-8.50 and August New Crop $8.15-8.20. Bids for January through March for one year ago were delivered by rail only. Bids for April through August New Crop delivery were by unit trains or barges.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 19, 2012, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2011, and ending May 31, 2012, totaled 1,442.8 thousand MT compared to 1,153.1 thousand MT on Jan. 12, and 1,343.5 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2011-12 marketing year were to the following countries in 1,000 MT: South Korea 455.5, Japan 226.4, Philippines 201.9, Mexico 95.0, Yemen 50.0, Thailand 40.5, China 35.0, Nigeria 29.3, Taiwan 23.5, Vietnam 2.2, Canada 1.3, Hong Kong 1.3, Malaysia 0.5 and total unknown 280.4. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Jan. 19, 2012, in 1,000 MT for the 2011-12 marketing year, totaled 3,217.7 compared to 2,934.3 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 19, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2011, and ending May 31, 2012, in 1,000 MT, totaled 0.2 compared to 0.2 on Jan. 12, 2011, and 103.2 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2011-12 marketing year in 1,000 MT were to Taiwan 0.2. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Jan. 19, were 82.6 thousand MT compared to 82.3 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Barley delivered to the coast in unit trains or barges and bids for U.S. 2 Barley delivered to the inland feeding areas of Hermiston, Ore., and Yakima, Wash., during January were not well tested. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $271.25-271.50, $10 to $11 per ton higher than Jan. 19 bids of $260.25-261.50. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to Yakima and Hermiston were $260.25-271.50 which was $10 to $10.25 per ton higher than Jan. 19 bids of $250-261.50. Corn bids were supported by the higher Chicago March corn futures for the week. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for January delivery held steady at $215.
