MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- A Vermont utility is looking for more farms that want to participate in its project that uses farm waste to help generate electricity and more customers willing to pay extra to use the power.

The Central Vermont Public Service Corp. says it recently brought its 10th "cow power" project online.

CVPS Renewable Energy Program Manager Dave Dunn says there are several more projects in the pipeline.

Now the utility is looking for more customers willing to pay a 4-cent-per-kilowatt hour premium for cow power electricity. The extra money goes to the farmers.

Cow power projects convert farm manure to methane, which is then used to run generators that create electricity. The power can reduce a farm's electric bill or be sent back to the electric grid.
