Capital Press website
Q: I registered on the website but never received a confirmation message. How long should that take?
A: You should get a reply within a few minutes (depending on your e-mail program) confirming your registration and providing a temporary password. If you did not get confirmation, check to make sure the message did not end up in a spam filter or junk mail folder. Add online@capitalpress.com to your e-mail address book to help prevent messages from Capital Press from getting blocked by your e-mail software.
Q: I registered on the website and entered my subscriber number but still can't get to the items I'm trying to see. Why?
A: The registration form required users to enter their subscriber number twice. If you only entered the number once or the numbers don't match or you entered the incorrect number off your mailing label the system you won't be able to access subscriber-only content. Check to make sure you entered the number correctly in both boxes. If it looks like the numbers are correct, but it still doesn't work, contact our webmasters at online@capitalpress.com for further assistance.
Q: I signed up for an e-mail newsletter from capitalpress.com. Why am I not receiving it?
A: Check to see if the newsletters are ending up in a spam filter or junk mail folder. Add online@capitalpress.com to your e-mail address book to help prevent messages from Capital Press from getting blocked by your e-mail software.
Q: I am searching for something I know was in the print issues of Capital Press but I can't find it on the website. How can I find it online?
A: Try searching for only one or two words. Try looking for a distinctive name of a person, plant, animal, place, product or model number. When searching for classified line ads or display ads in our Classified section, you may want to narrow your search down using the advance search tool on at www.capitalpress.com/classifieds to select specific categories and/or subcategories and then search keywords. If you are searching for something like a tractor, a keyword search for the word "tractor" will only find ads with that word in them. So select the tractor subcategory then search by make, model or some other distinguishing characteristic you seek.
Advertising
Q: What is the difference between a display ad and a classified line ad? And what does it cost to run an ad?
A: A display ad is any ad with a border which may contain artwork. It can be located in the classified or the news sections of the paper. Price for a display ad is determined by total column inches that an ad takes up in the paper. Check www.capitalpress.com/howtoadvertise for specific rates.
A line ad is a text-only ad without a border or artwork that runs the classified section of the newspaper and website. They are priced per word depending upon the number of weeks the ad runs. Check www.capitalpress.com/howtoadvertise for more information. You can place a line ad through the website at www.capitalpress.com/classifieds/placead/
