HERMISTON, Ore. -- Trevor Brazile continued his winning ways Saturday, Aug. 15, and rode out of Hermiston, Ore., with the all around and calf roping titles in hand as the gates closed at the 22nd Farm-City Pro Rodeo.

The six-time world all around champ from Decatur, Texas, cashed in for $6,294 at Hermiston. He finished at 17.9 over two rounds in the calf roping, including a nice 9.4 second run in the second round on a kicking calf.

"My first calf was good enough. I placed on my first calf, so I had 10-flat to win it," he said. "The calf wasn't exactly the one I would have picked, but he was plenty-good to be under 10 on. You can't have it all."

In team roping, Brazile and partner Patrick Smith made the best of what could have been a bad situation in the second round Saturday on a steer that unexpectedly ran hard to the left. Brazile made a long throw to turn the steer for Smith.

"That steer wasn't supposed to run that hard, but he kind of wanted to go left and it cut you off to where you don't have any choice but to throw it because you run out of room here with that wall."

Brazile says they are happy to be in the Pacific Northwest for the last six weeks of the season.

"We've been to rodeos across the country -- four or five per week -- and now it seems that when we get to the Northwest the weather is great and we get to just two or three a week and relax a little bit. It's been a fun year and it's been great. We hope to finish it that way up here."

Brazile continues to stay ahead of his record setting pace of $425,115 back in 2007.

"Well, I know I didn't win Hermiston last year, so surely I am keeping ahead of that record pace."

Hermiston cowboy tops PBR-Nashville

Hermiston's Cody Ford topped the field at the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series Tour in Nashville Sunday, Aug. 16, the 25th stop of the Tour.

Ford turned in 263.75 points on three bulls, taking home the coveted event title. Ford stuffed $38,932 into his Wranglers as well as some valuable points in the PBR's World Standings.

"Nashville was great. The bulls were outstanding. Cody Lambert put a great pen of bulls together for this event," he said.

Ford wins round one with a score of 88.5 points on "Booger Butt". He followed that up after two re-rides with "Buffalo Hump", which he teamed for 86.5 points.

"I had prior engagements with him (Booger Butt) and I knew I could ride him and I ended up winning the round," he said. "I had two or three re-rides, so they danged sure made me work for it."

Ford entered the Built Ford Tough Championship Round in first place on two bulls with a total of 175 points, giving him the first pick in the PBR Bull Draft. He chose "Carrillo Cartel" and they danced together for 88.75 points, to wrap up the win.

"I had the luck of the draw and drew some bulls that I could really win on this weekend."

The 2008 world champ, Guilherme Marchi of Brazil, was second. Marchi, who scored a total of 263 points, collected a check for $15,886 and moved from third to second place in the World Standings. Current world leader Kody Lostroh of Longmont, Colo., rode to a third place finish in Nashville after totaling 257.75 points, and adding $9,592 to his Wrangler pockets.
