Ayla Neumeyer, North Idaho FFA District Reporter

Friday, November 4th was a busy day in the North Idaho FFA District. With the Creed Speaking, Greenhand Knowledge Test, Ag Sales, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, and Agronomy Career Development Events all taking place, there was truly something for every member. These were held at the University of Idaho in Moscow, with the help of district FFA Advisors, university volunteers, and the Collegiate FFA Chapter. Members were also visited by Idaho FFA Reporter Cara Pantone and newly elected Western Region Vice President Seth Pratt, who gave a brief speech to members while awaiting results.

There were seven schools present, many with several teams competing in multiple CDEs, showing a great deal of preparation among the chapters.

The Creed Speaking CDE has such high enrollment that it is judged in two separate groups. In Creed Speaking B, the winner was Brittany Hosley, Troy. In Creed Speaking A, the first place speaker was Stormy Bedard, Troy. The winner of Creed Speaking A goes on to represent the North Idaho District at the Idaho FFA State Leadership Conference in April. The Greenhand Knowledge test is a district event also made specifically for first year members. The first placing member in Greenhand Knowledge was Sarah Mosman, Nezperce.

The Ag Sales CDE was also split into two separate groups where the A Group competes to go to state and the B Group does so for experience. In Ag Sales B, the Troy team consisting of members Ashley Bull, Gabe Wright, Clint Sandquist, and Alyssa Salerno placed the highest. Winning the Ag Sales A event and competing at State in April was the Kendrick team with members Brooke Brown, Collin Wolff, Daryll Kirby, and Whitney Harris.

The Extemporaneous Public Speaking CDE requires members to write a speech with little preparation. The winner of this event who will represent North Idaho at State was Ayla Neumeyer, Bonners Ferry.

Finally, the Agronomy CDE where members identify crop and weed samples and seeds as well as participate in other practicum. The highest placing individual was Sam Hoffman, Genesee. The Genesee team placed first in the event with Hoffman, and other members Dallan Pickard, Tyler Renton and Gunnar Knecht.

It was a successful day for the North Idaho District, which will be meeting next after the New Year.
